Mitch Covington

First expressed desire to be a broadcaster in a 10th grade class.  Mitch was actually a real good student at Denham Springs HS, although some say his studies often concentrated on many of the coeds.  A 1994 graduate of DSHS, Mitch was an excellent multi-sport athlete, playing 4 years of football, baseball and basketball…..Played college baseball at Panola JC and McNeese State—and is a 1999 graduate of McNeese, majoring in Education…..was an assistant football coach at Denham Springs HS (2010—2016).  Prior to that, he was a head baseball coach/assistant football coach at Christian Life (2001-2002) Woodlawn HS (2002-2005), Zachary High School (2005-2006) and Central High School (2006—2010).  Mitch’s 2002 Christian Life team was 2A state champs, earning him the 2002 Louisiana 2A Baseball Coach of the Year!…..Has been the Head Coach at Denham Springs Jr. High Football since 2017.……Made his television debut as a guest on The Dru Nettles Show…..Former McNeese pbp announcer Jon Fine was impressed with Mitch’s ties to the Lake Charles university.  Yet, the deciding factor in Jon’s hiring Mitch is that he is relatively short (he doesn’t tower over Jon like most others)….This is Mitch’s fourth season as the color commentator of Denham Springs HS Football….As his DS JR High team is practicing on Friday afternoons, Mitch will be late for many broadcasts.—A chauffeured limousine to expedite Mitch’s travels to game-sites just missed being in Jon’s budget.  We do ask local law authorities to go easy on Mitch as he drives to ballgames on Friday afternoon.

Mitch Covington is the color commentator of Denham Springs HS Football Radio Broadcasts on Family Radio, 91.9 FM and on the net (right here) at JonFineProductions.com and can be seen on UTube @dsjacketvision—some telecasts are tape delayed
